B.C. Labour forecasts 11% growth in digital media

After months of market research, industry surveys and communications trend watching, the program I was commissioned to develop has been approved by Simon Fraser University’s Continuing Studies. In SFU’s new part-time Business-to-Business Communications Certificate, students will learn the skills and techniques needed to excel in Vancouver’s competitive marketing communications industry—and they’ll do it in only 15 weeks.

The program addresses the unique goals of a B2B communicator considering that the average transaction is usually higher, the sales cycle is longer, and reaching the decision maker is typically more challenging. Commercial transactions and relationships are often worth millions of dollars, meaning that effective communication is vital. It needs to focus on establishing brand credibility, building trust, and enhancing the value of relationships over an extended period of time—often years. This puts a higher emphasis on producing a constant stream of communications, over multiple channels, and to key stakeholders.
